Blue Sea Cruises Inc. helped out the Kai Opua Canoe Club with the Queen Lili'uokalani Outrigger Canoe Race in 2009 as a shuttle boat for spectators wanting to watch the race riding along side in the water.  But the main reason was to help save wear and tear on the Honaunau Reef as the paddlers exchange crews from womens to mens.  Many of the crews this year and last rode one way on the Spirit and never touched the shores except at the beach at the pier in Kailua-Kona.  All in all it has been a great conservation means for the race organizers.  This boat charges very little to paddlers and spectators since this is a non profit effort by Blue Sea Cruises in support of a very local very cool tradition.  See a wrap up video on the 2010 race by LAVA 105 TV who joined us pn the Spirit.
